2 Timothy 1:10 gives assurance to the believer that God has conquered death and given us life and light through His death and resurrection on the cross saying: “But now has been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel”
To believe that salvation was given gradually, in stages, or to think that the powerful repercussions and results of the cross and resurrection were like an aftershock wave of power that took time to free us from death (Romans 6:23), like a delayed reaction giving us power days, months or years later would be improper theology.
When Jesus died on the cross, from the second He rose from the dead, we as believers shared in His glorious victory in His conquering of death. It wasn’t a delayed reaction. It wasn’t delayed victory. His power wasn’t administered as an aftershock, like the second shock of an earthquake in which results and aftershocks are experience after the first main shock of the earthquake. It was absolutely instant. It was powerful –a true work of a nonpareil God!
Jesus Christ conquered death, and the door to salvation –the door that was locked was blown open just like the tomb and rock being rolled away by an angel from Heaven (Matthew 28:2). In the same way, in 1 Corinthians 1:13 when Jesus rescued us from the Kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear son, when He transferred us from dark to light –it was absolutely unequivocally instant (1 Peter 2:9, John 12:46, Ephesians 5:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5).
Are you living your life as if you are a child transferred instantly out of dark and into light by God’s unmatchable power or are you living a skeptic-type-of-faith reducing the power of God and fitting it into some scientific, human-logic-based concept where you think that you need more faithful, first, or that their must be a second wave of salvation before you are fully saved and have access to His FULL power.
Whatever way you approach the interpretation from dark to light will directly determine the power, victory and freedom in which you walk in today, as you go about your day, approach your trials, approach your prayer life, place your trust in Him and give Him your worship.
If a sailor doesn’t understand the power of the ocean and goes out, he will abuse the oceans power and spend all his time exercising his power against the power of the ocean, and he will end up spending more time fighting against it. But if the sailor understands the power and has a healthy respect for it understanding the full weight of it’s power, the sailor can work in the sweet spot and with the power of the ocean letting the power of the ocean work with him as his sails become a conduit of it’s power.
The same is true for our faith, if the view you have of God, and His power, is small and incapable of instantly transferring you from dark to light, and you don’t understand the full weight of God’s glory and His power, then the god your serving isn’t the true God of the Bible. And just like the sailor your most likely spending more energy living out of your own power than surrendering to the powerful work of the Holy spirit indwelling within you to display His power and do His purposes in your live –your only submitting to and excising a small minority of His thunderous power.
